Two Door Cinema Club and Milky Chance to perform on the Gurten

The final slots for the main stage and the marquee have been booked! We’re proud to present Two Door Cinema Club, the high-flyers from Northern Ireland, as well as folktronica hits by Milky Chance. But that’s not all: With Plan B, Charlotte Cardin, Leoniden, Youngr, Jacob Banks, Flight Facilities and – as was previously announced – Steff la Cheffe we have added a few more new pearls to our headliners Gorillaz, Prophets of Rage, Alt-J, and Cro.

For the indie-pop band Two Door Cinema Club it will be their first stop-over in Bern to present their captivating electro-pop songs live. Milky Chance, on the other hand, have been to the Gurten before and are returning to present their current album in Bern – after concerts in cities such as Mexico City, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Barcelona, or Rome.

And now to the hot newcomers: On stage, young artist Youngr plays several instruments simultaneously, creating layer after layer of his wonderfully danceable electro-pop songs. From Germany we welcome the Leoniden who created a furious combination of synthie-pop, indie-rock, punk, and funk on their début album. Canadian Charlotte Cardin weaves pop and jazz elements into musical tapestries, enchanting audiences everywhere with her unique voice. In her home country – in and more and more European cities as well – her shows are routinely sold out. Soulful Jacob Banks is another artist with a voice full of character. With his EP, “The Boy Who Cried Freedom”, the singer from Birmingham generated lots of attention. He is sure to advance to even higher spheres before too long. And yet another hot act: Flight Facilities! The producer duo from Australia have become world renowned for their poppy, highly danceable electro singles and remixes.

Plan B and Steff la Cheffe have both been on the Gurten before. Plan B is Ben Drew from Britain who hit it big in 2010 with his single “She Said”. Now he is back with lots of hip-hop and soul and a new album, “Heaven Before All Hell Breaks Loose”. And local heroine Steff la Cheffe will present new material on the Gurten as well, supported by a 7-member band and performing as headliner on the Waldbühne. Magical moments are guaranteed!

Three new dance tents for partying
So, almost all acts for this year’s Gurtenfestival are known. Almost? Yes, almost. As you know, several exciting innovations are underway for the 2018 edition of the Gurtenfestival. For example, three completely revamped dance tents will feature no less 60 DJs whose names will be announced in early spring. And on the night of 9th March we will come to know the four winning bands of the Waldbühne Live Contest who will complete this year’s Waldbühne line-up.
