Salsa through a Chinese lens? That’s exactly what DJ and producer Gia Fu from Hong Kong brings to the table. Her aptly named project “Canton Mambo 曼波” aims to build bridges between cultures, challenge stereotypes, and foster greater diversity.

Gia’s tools are as versatile as her vision: DJ sets, radio shows, original tracks, and productions for other artists—including Grammy-nominated Puerto Rican musician Angel Meléndez. She’s also played events across club culture, fashion, and sports—where her music has reportedly gotten stars like Pharrell Williams, Lionel Messi, and David Beckham dancing. But no matter who’s on the dancefloor, Gia’s mission stays the same: bringing people together through her selection of Afro-Latin sounds.

She’ll be doing just that on Wednesday at Soundgarden. And while it’s always a given with Gurtenfestival, it goes double for Gia Fu’s set: bring your dancing shoes—and an open mind 🫶
