What happens when jazz meets Afrobeat, hip-hop and London’s club culture? Ezra Collective have the answer—and above all, it sounds like movement.
The five-piece band from London is one of the most exciting acts of the “British jazz invasion.” Saxophone, trumpet, bass, keys and drums lock together, pushing each other forward to create a sound that’s virtuosic without ever feeling overthought. In other words: groovy as hell, bursting with jazz-fuelled energy and joy.
On their debut album “You Can’t Steal My Joy”, the band collaborated with artists including Loyle Carner and Jorja Smith. Later came tracks with Swindle, Jme and Olivia Dean. And with their Mercury Prize-winning album “Where I’m Meant To Be”, Ezra Collective firmly established themselves on the international stage. Last year, they also made history as the first jazz band to win a Brit Award.
In short: Ezra Collective bring jazz to the dancefloor. And at Güsche—where they’ll arrive with a new album in tow—that might just work perfectly.
