The year is 2005. Your jeans are skinny, your T-shirt is neon-colored, and your hair has a mind of its own. You mostly listen to indie rock, but you’re just as happy losing yourself to electro. Paris is the coolest city on earth, and Ed Banger and Kitsuné are the labels everyone is talking about. You’re at a party in a sweaty basement, and the DJ drops the track that sends the entire room into a frenzy. Life seems good.

Of course, that track is “Zdarlight”, Digitalism’s debut single. Released in 2005, it shook dancefloors around the world and became a defining anthem for an entire genre—arguably even a whole generation. Two years later, Jens Moelle and Ismail Tüfekçi, the duo behind Digitalism, followed it up with their debut album “Idealism”. Among its highlights was the massive hit “Pogo”, a track that cemented the Hamburg pair’s legendary status. Not bad for a project that had originally taken off with a White Stripes edit, born out of a simple frustration: the original track just didn’t fit their DJ sets.

Naturally, Moelle and Tüfekçi didn’t stop there. Remixes for legendary acts like Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, and The Cure followed. And more than two decades into their career, Digitalism remain as fresh as ever. In recent years, they’ve showcased their versatility with releases on labels such as Running Back, Diynamic, and Magnetism, covering a spectrum that stretches from dark techno to euphoric dance-pop.

Now, after their last appearance in 2012, Digitalism return to Gurten with a new live show. And they’re bringing their latest masterpiece with them: “Optimism”, their fifth studio album. And yes: The title is no coincidence 🙂🤩🙂🤩🙂🤩
