“There just aren’t any women!” – this excuse is still all too common in the music world. On and behind concert stages, men continue to dominate in many places. But this claim is clearly nonsense! Since 2009, Helvetiarockt—the Swiss coordination and networking platform for women, inter, non-binary, trans, and agender people in popular music—has been challenging this myth with confidence, responding: “Yes, there are—and far more than most people think.” At our Forum Stage, Helvetiarockt presents a project that powerfully proves the point: musicdirectory.ch—a multilingual platform (available in four languages) where women, inter, non-binary, trans, and agender individuals from the Swiss music scene can connect and gain visibility. Joining members of the Helvetiarockt team are musicians Kate Birch (aka Laura Schuler; violinist, producer & songwriter in the fields of indie pop and electronica), Loussona Ground (composer of experimental and electronic music and sound design) and Rebecca Solari (of Fulmine nad Crème solaire), who will be sharing their personal experiences. The event is hosted by Natalia Anderson (a professional podcaster, producer and performer).
