Hold on tight, here comes Da Cruz! Over the past 15 years, the band led by the Afro-Brazilian singer and Bern resident Mariana Da Cruz has made a name for itself with funk- and disco-infused sounds – both on stage and on record. Now, Da Cruz has expanded their musical horizons, incorporating the hottest dance genres from around the globe into their sound: from South African Gqom and Angolan Kuduro to Brazilian Baile Funk, Caribbean Shatta, and even Trap. If you think you can stand still through one of their concerts, good luck! But Da Cruz offers more than just infectious beats. The band’s new songs also tackle important social issues, such as the theft of land from Brazil’s Indigenous peoples. We’re looking forward to a live gig that invites celebration and inspires reflection.
