Concrete sucks. It’s gray, it’s hard, and most of the time it paves over beautifully diverse green spaces. But sometimes a few brave plants find their way through the cracks and manage to bloom in the middle of a gray expanse. Cemento, Crème solaire’s third album, is a celebration of this kind of resilience. The Swiss electro-punk duo, consisting of Rebecca Solari and Pascal Stoll, uses their music to oppose norms, conventions, and the gray wasteland of the blinkered mainstream. Poetic, punk, in-your-face – that’s about how it sounds. And the duo keeps that energy on stage, leaving you in the middle of an absurd party with a political edge. Or, more precisely, activism that’s fun.
