„Je ferai danser les gens au rythme de mes pleurs / La tourmente de mes chants viendra réchauffer les cœurs”: This is how Zaho de Sagazan best describes the effect of her music in the title track of her debut album “La symphonie des éclairs”. In her songs, the Frenchwoman deals with the big emotions, immersing us in doubts and dreams, sadness and moments of happiness of a young woman in her early 20s. Zaho cites Jacques Brel and Kraftwerk as her musical influences, and her music is indeed somewhere between dark electro and French chanson, with a classical training on the piano constantly shimmering through her songs. Long a star in her homeland France, regarded by the press as the next Charlotte Gainsbourg, responsible for the soundtrack of this year’s Louis Vuitton spring collection and headliner of a sold-out tour, Zaho de Sagazan has not lost sight of her near abroad. She proves it in her utterly charming cover of Nena’s “99 Luftballons”, performed with a thick French accent and ready to be sung along at the top of her voice.
