There has rarely been a more beautiful song about fear, especially in Swiss German: on her debut Album “Aquatic Ballet” (2022), “Angscht” was the only song in dialect; on the new album “The Movie” (2023), English and dialect are now half and half. Fortunately, because the cinematically grandiose pop in English contrasts perfectly with the fragile gems in Swiss German that make up To Athena. Melancholy and pathos characterise the music of Tiffany Athena Limacher, but there is always something light and hopeful in her pop songs, her “chamber pop”. As the daughter of a family of violin makers with an affinity for the synth-pop of the 1980s, the Lucerne-born singer uses synthesizers and strings to address pressing social issues – a wonderful musical cosmos that is all the more captivating live.
