Burna Boy

Probably no genre has had a greater impact on music in recent years than Afrobeat – and Burna Boy is a master of the art. His contemporary classic “African Giant” from 2019 was followed by a meteoric rise: the Grammy winner from Rivers, Nigeria, was the first African artist to sell out stadiums in the US and the UK. Burna Boy’s music has been described as Afro-fusion, blending dancehall, reggae, Afrobeat, R’n’B and pop, while his new album ‘I Told Them…’ also plays with borrowings from 90s hip-hop. The list of his previous collaborations is as impressive as the diversity of his influences: Wizkid, Youssou N’Dour, Chris Martin, 21 Savage, Wu-Tang’s GZA and RZA, Justin Bieber and J. Cole are just a few of his past features. Burna Boy’s journey from up-and-coming artist to international superstar will take him up the Gurten this year – and we promise: more energy is hardly possible live.
