Phoenix was founded, so the legend says, in Versailles. This has to be mentioned, because the French band serves up truly royal food: Their latest album, “Alpha Zulu,” is like a sumptuous meal for the palace. It is very, very fine pop that the French deliver, sometimes with a pinch of 80s sound, gallons of top modern electro or yes, even Countryesk can be found on the plate. The strange, ah, the good thing about it: You can enjoy as much Phoenix as you want, you are never oversaturated. Their music is too colorful and versatile and delicious. And we don’t even want to talk about their performances. Or maybe they do: They are like formidable fireworks.
