Recommendations for Children
So you can enjoy the festival to the fullest with your children, godchildren, or little companions, we’ve put together some practical tips. This way, you’ll be well prepared for an unforgettable family experience on the Gurten!
Our Recommendations
We recommend coming to the festival with children during quieter times, when large crowds are not expected and you can easily move away from the stages. Children under 6 should generally not be taken into crowds. Children should not be carried on shoulders through large crowds. If your children are over 12 years old, talk to them beforehand about how to behave. In general, never go with children into the middle of a crowd. At entrances and exits, we recommend moving before or after the crowds.
Volume
Children are not yet able to judge when something is too loud for them. Please keep a safe distance from loudspeakers and make sure to protect your child’s hearing with ear protection (available at the Festival Store next to the main stage). Ear protection is available in pink and green.
Meeting Point
Agree on a meeting point with your child where you can reunite in case of an emergency. Free stickers are available at the Festival Store so you can label your child with a phone number. If a child gets lost, the Info Point in the Festival Store (to the right of the main stage) is the first place to go.
Gurtenbahn (Funicular)
To avoid long waiting times at the Gurtenbahn, it is best to avoid traveling with children during peak hours (not between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM).
Admission
When exchanging your ticket for a festival wristband, have the child’s ticket as a PDF and their ID ready. If you have a Comfort Zone ticket, you’ll need to exchange it for a festival wristband at the Comfort Zone Check-in at the mountain station (No. 5 on the site map).
We’re happy to welcome all young guests to the festival. However, we kindly ask parents or guardians to always prioritize the needs of the children. If it becomes too much for the children, it’s best to head home early.
