The past few years saw an increasing demand for more space on the festival grounds for the audience. To meet this demand, significant changes are underway for the Gurtenfestival 2018: For example, the Marquee will be set up near the sleeping zone. In order for the sleeping zone to still offer enough room for 3000 2-person igloo tents, it will be extended downwards.

Due to the increased popularity of Swiss music as well as for safety reasons, the Waldbühne – the stage reserved for Swiss bands – will be set up where the Marquee used to be. The main stage will remain unchanged. Sponsoring activities around the main stage will be moved further back.

As the festival capacity will remain at 20.000 persons per day, festival visitors will enjoy a marked increase in elbow room and freedom of movement.
