Nelly Furtado

(CA)

Saturday

Main Stage

23:45

When Nelly Furtado landed her first global hit with the neo-hippie sound of “I’m Like a Bird” and immediately followed it up with the more rhythmic but no less catchy “Turn Off the Light” – both of which can be found on her 2001 debut “Whoa, Nelly!” – very few would have predicted the incredible career that followed. With a completely new style crafted by uber-producer Timbaland, the Portuguese-Canadian dominated the sound of the noughties. There was no escaping “Promiscuous,” “Maneater,” “Say it Right,” or “All Good Things (Come To An End)” at the time, resulting in multi-platinum records, numerous awards, and number 1 chart positions worldwide. Furtado became a global pop star, a feat rarely achieved since. The Spanish-language work “Mi Plan” from 2009 was followed by two lesser-known albums in 2012 (“The Spirit Indestructible”) and 2017 (“The Ride”). And now, this comeback: 16 years after the release of “Give It To Me,” Furtado, Timbaland, and Justin Timberlake have reunited in the studio to finally follow up with “Keep Going Up” as a trio. More new music has been announced for 2024. We can hardly wait and promise: Every chorus is still spot on.
